Right Nextdoor To Hell

All 236 Nextdoor Posts This Morning About Power Outage.

Instead of checking to see if anyone else mentioned it first, the entire Midwestern neighborhood of Grove Pond, IL logged onto Nextdoor and asked if others were also without power.

“We don’t have electricity at 5XXX Dupont Ave South, and I don’t see lights on in the neighbors’ windows,” commented Vera Wand, a few minutes after 235 of her neighbors had made similar observations she could have easily seen before posting this redundant post.

Wand also could have consulted her energy provider’s website or either the email or text message they sent out regarding the local outage and expected downtime before posting to NextDoor on her phone app.

A few minutes after posting it, while waiting for someone to like or comment on her post, she decided to browse recent posts and saw that there were now over 400 similar posts and counting.

To atone for her sins, Wand proceeded to like every single post to make sure that everyone was aware that the power was indeed out and would also get all those posts refreshed in her feed.

As a result of all these posts, a single post regarding a breaking murder in the neighborhood and the perpetrators looking for potential hostages to kidnap went relatively unnoticed.
